When will the next Captain Marvel trailer release? All Marvel fans' eyes are currently on Avengers 4, with a first teaser trailer expected to drop any day now, but that won't be the only Marvel goodness coming in the next few months. A Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is expected to come alongside Sony's animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and then there's the little matter of Carol Danvers.
Captain Marvel releases in March 2019, setting up the MCU's latest hero in the 1990s before she brings the fight to Thanos in Avengers 4. The first, record-breaking trailer for the film released in late-September 2019, but at least one more is expected before it premieres (possibly two). With it now two months on from the teaser, the question of when the next Captain Marvel trailer will release is becoming pressing.
With just over three months until release, a full Captain Marvel trailer will surely come by the end of January at the latest; any time after is too close to release for a proper second look. That means the trailer could drop in early December to coincide with the big Christmas releases like Aquaman and Bumblebee, although that may see it conflict for attention with Avengers 4. As such, the next trailer may instead release in January 2019, where there'll be less trailer competition (but also fewer big movies to be attached to). This is pure speculation, and currently presents a wide timeframe - we'll be sure to update as more information comes to light.
UPDATE (December 2): The second trailer releases during Monday Night Football on December 2. Here's what time we expect the Captain Marvel trailer to release.
There's really no precedent for Captain Marvel's marketing. Marvel Studios has never released a movie in March before (the closest was Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April 2014), and Black Panther, which has several key comparison points to Captain Marvel (it sees an increased push for representation and introduces a key new hero ahead of an Avengers appearance), had a totally different marketing campaign; by this point last year, there were two Black Panther trailers ahead of its February release.
Regardless of approach, the hype machine for Captain Marvel is sure to kick off with the next trailer. Once her presence in Avengers 4 is widely known, there'll be added weight to the importance of her adventure, and new footage is sure to have some big reveals: if not who Jude Law is playing, then at least a tease of his enigmatic mentor; and hopefully more of the shapeshifting Skrulls to explain why Carol punched an old lady in her first teaser.
